TT Cabinets are part of a prototype iconic hierarchy, which also includes Cases (a small selection of Copland "Mother Nature's Cases" is also available from MUT's library*)
The spiel: A true hierarchy has elements of different magnitude, like in chess: King, Rook, Bishop, Knight, etc. Right? So why are we Mac users content with a single element to house all our documents, no matter how diverse? I'm talking about folders within folders within folders within folders within folders. . . . here are 2 new elements:
Cabinets. . .
. . .hold Cases. . .
. . .and Folders go in the Cases.
This seems a lot more natural to me than nesting endless folders.
CABINETS are a distinctively-styled top element for the hierarchy, but just like any other iconic element they use the 32- X 32-pixel format and 16 Apple Icon or 256 system colors, so they are perfectly compatible with any Mac desktop and can be copied and filled with the contents of your own top-level "folders."
IMPORTANT TIP: Don't try to change Control Panels, Preferences, etc. folders into cabinets by copying and pasting in "get info" -- the system resists this; just make new cabinets by copying TT icons in "get info" and pasting them onto new "untitled folders," then transfer your system files into them. The system will automatically recognize them as bona-fide special system folders if they have the correct names.

* The cases are constructed with ribs to match proto-System 8 / ~Aaron-style windows so they match the new desktop better [get Greg Landweber's ~Aaron extension from AOL, you won't be sorry -- but trash those *silly* baby-blue standing folders : ) ]. The icons inside are just pretty nature pics you could place on your own folders if you like. If downloads continue, I'll upload a tinted cases suite for major applications and activities.
